The principle of golf is simple – try hitting a small ball in a hole with as few swings of the golf club as possible, in a total of 9 or 18-holes spread over a large area. What is the fascination? It’s not possible to describe, it must be experienced. For those that start playing, they will enter a “golfing world” surrounded by terms such as greens, pros, handicaps, putting and wedges. Almost no other sport requires such coordination in an atmosphere that is perceived as just relaxing. Whether you are playing for the first time or improving your game, the golf courses in the surroundings of the Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts offer you every possibility.
Typically English, with numerous old tree populations and park-like grounds – this best describes the course of the “Berliner Golf Club Gatow e.V.” The golf course was laid by the British in 1969 and was extended to 18-holes in June 2001. The challenging course, surrounded by beautiful scenery, is located in the middle of Berlin and only 10 km from the Steigenberger Hotel Berlin. Ideal for beginners or those that do not take the game too seriously is the 6-hole public golf course, where no handicap is needed.
The “Golf and Land-Club Berlin Wannsee e.V.”, established in 1895, is rich in history and well reputed. Guests with a minimum handicap of 36 are welcome on the 18-hole course, and with a minimum of 54 on the 9-hole course. The large tree population and ideal surrounding landscapes not only create challenges for the golfer on both of the courses, but also provide for a unique experience amongst nature. The Steigenberger Hotel Berlin is only 15 km away.
